Vansh was sitting in his study, reflecting on recent events, when his phone rang.

It was Adwait calling. Vansh considered talking to him and clearing things up.

Adwait:"Hello?"

Vansh: "If you have something important to say, speak up. I don't have time to waste on you."

Adwait: "Arre saale sahab, itni bhi kya ghai hai? Aaram se baat kariye."
(Hey, brother-in-law, why the rush? Relax and talk.)

Vansh: "Mai koi tera saala waala nhi hoo or na hi kabhi banunga." ("I'm not your brother-in-law or anything, okay? And I never will be.")

Adwait: "But Devisha loves me a lot, and I love her even more."

Vansh: "I'll talk to Devisha. You don't need to worry about it."

Adwait:"Jab miya biwi razzi toh kya karega qazi? Agar mere bas mein hota toh mai usse bhaga le jaata, par meri Devi ko tumhare aashirwad ke saath shaadi karni hai."
(When the bride and groom are ready, what can anyone do to stop it? If it were up to me, I would have taken her away by now, but my Devi wants to marry with your blessings.)he

Vansh:"I won't let your and Devi's marriage happen."

Adwait: "Agar tumne humari shaadi nahi hone di, toh tumhe pata hi hai mai kya kar sakta hoon."
(If you don't allow our marriage, you already know what I'm capable of.)

Vansh: "You're not right for her."

Adwait: "But I love her deeply. Don't worry, I'll never hurt her, nor will I let anyone else hurt her."

Vansh: "I can't trust you, especially not with my sister. Never. I just can't."

Adwait: "But your sister loves me, and I love her. Why are you getting in the way?"

Vansh: "Adwait, don't play games. You know very well that Devisha is the only source of happiness in my life."

Adwait: "Meri bhi, issliye mai keh rha hoo devi ki khusi ke liye maan jao warna mera pass or bhi tarike hai ha bulwane ke liye ."("She's my happiness too, which is why I'm saying that for her sake, you should agree to this marriage. Otherwise, I have other ways of getting your 'yes.'")

Vansh pauses for a moment, contemplating Adwait's warning. He knows better than to agree, as Adwait might do something he will regret, just like he does every day.

Vansh: "Promise me, no matter what, you won't hurt her?"

Adwait: "Of course, I won't hurt her."

Vansh: "Alright. You both can get married."

Adwait: "Yaar saale sahab, I love you!"
(Oh, brother-in-law, I love you!)

Vansh:"I still hate you for what you did."

Vansh, unable to handle the overwhelming emotions, ended the call. Devisha was his only happiness, the one person he had left to love and cherish after everything that had happened—all of it because of Adwait. It was tearing him apart, but right now, he couldn't do anything about it.

For Devisha's happiness, he would let the marriage happen because he knew she loved Adwait deeply. He thinks that Adwait wouldn't break her heart, but if he did, Vansh would definitely break all his bones.

Vansh remembered the day Devisha was born.

Flashback

A four-year-old Vansh was sitting outside the hospital room with his grandparents and father. Suddenly, he heard a baby crying from inside. Instantly worried, he asked his father, "Papa, why is the baby crying? Is she hurt? Please ask her to stop crying—I don't like hearing her cry."

"Vansh beta, kuch nahi hua," his father replied, trying to hide his laughter at Vansh's cuteness. "When you were born, you cried even louder than this. All babies cry."

"Oh." Vansh nodded in understanding.

A nurse came out, holding a baby in her arms.

"Congratulations, Mr. Ahuja. Ghar mein Lakshmi aayi hai," she said, handing Mr. Ahuja the baby.
(Congratulations, Mr. Ahuja. The goddess has arrived in your home.)

"Haye, kitni pyaari hai meri bachi," Mr. Ahuja said, admiring his daughter.
(Oh, how lovely my daughter is!)

"Papa, papa, mujhe bhi khelna hai baby ke saath, please!" Vansh begged, making puppy eyes.
(Papa, papa, I also want to play with the baby, please!)

"Vansh, tum chote ho. Usse lag gayi toh?" his father asked.
(Vansh, you're too young. What if you hurt her?)

"Papa, mai aaram se khelunga. Please?" Vansh pleaded.
(Papa, I'll play gently. Please?)

"Haan, dedo. Mai dhyan rakhti hoon dono ka. Tu jaake apni patni se mil," Dadi interjected.
(Yes, give him the baby. I'll watch over both of them. You go meet your wife.)

Mr. Ahuja nodded and handed the baby to Vansh, who sat with his legs crisscrossed to hold her properly.

Vansh looked at the baby with pure admiration and said, "Haye Dadu, Dadi, dekho na kitni cute hai. mai isse apne aap se dur nhi jaane dunga—meri bhen, meri guddi."
(Oh, Grandpa, Grandma, look, she's so cute. I won't let her go far from me—she's my baby, my Guddi.)

"Acha, par ab mujhe bhi khelne de meri poti ke saath," Dadu said.
(Alright, but now let me play with my granddaughter.)

"Nahi, isko mai nahi jaane de raha apne aap se door aur Guddi ko bhi nahi jaana mere se door," Vansh said, glaring at his grandfather.
(No, I'm not letting her go away from me, and Guddi also don't want to go away from me either.)

"Koi kidhar nahi le ja raha teri Guddi ko," Dadi remarked playfully.
(No one is taking your Guddi anywhere.)

Adwait

I manipulated Vansh effortlessly. I knew he'd be overthinking and dwelling on past events, especially after seeing me again after so many years.

I ruined his life, But he's my rival, and my hatred for him won't go away so easily.
*(Just two minutes ago, he said he loved him, right?)*

Anyway, I knew he'd agree because if he didn't, I have ways of making him agree—and he knows that better than anyone. So, he agreed.

But if he agreed too quickly, Devisha would get suspicious.

I'll need Vansh's help, but convincing him will be tricky.

Why would he help me, the villain of his life?

But he has to—I will make sure of it

I picked up my phone and messaged Vansh to meet me at the café before he agreed to the marriage in front of Devisha. I sent the message and drifted off to sleep.

Vansh

Did I do the right thing by agreeing to Adwait marrying Devi?

I just don't know—this whole situation is so messed up.

If I hadn't agreed, who knows what Adwait might have done?

That's why I had to agree.

I know he loves Devi a lot, but still--

I don't know what I did that made him destroy me. It is still a mystery.

But from what I can tell, he won't hurt Devi. And if he does, he'll see the worst version of me—because I'm not the Vansh he thinks he knows.

I'm stronger now.

A notification popped up on my screen, and I smirked at his message. I knew he wanted my help, and I'd gladly help him—after all, he's going to be my brother-in-law.

But I won't make it that easy. 😏
I replied with an "Okay, I'll be there."
